
Starring Jaws Following a protracted battle with cancer, Marc Gilpin passed away at the age of 56.
In the 1978 follow-up to the popular Jaws film, which was directed by Steven Spielberg, Gilpin portrayed the younger son of Martin Brody, the Police Chief played by Roy Scheider.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that his older sister, the Frasier actress Peri Gilpin, made the tragic announcement of his passing. He lost his battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive and quickly growing brain tumor, in Dallas, Texas.
In May of last year, a fundraiser was started to assist Gilpin, his wife Kaki, and their two sons as they “faced the unimaginable”. Gilpin, who was 11 when Jaws 2 debuted in theaters in 1978, bested hundreds of other boys to land the role of Sean Brody.
A year later, Gilpin appeared with his younger sister April on ABC’s Fantasy Island and on NBC’s CHiPs. The young actor appeared in Earthbound and The Legend of the Long Ranger in 1981.
Gilpin left the acting industry and worked as a software engineer after appearing in the 1989 films She’s Out of Control, China Beach, and Silver Spoons on NBC and ABC, respectively.
According to his family, he worked for a start-up business and another company where he obtained several software patents. Gilpin’s sister Peri gained notoriety as Roz Doyle on the NBC comedy hit Frasier.
Rare photographs taken on the Jaws set in 2020 revealed the creation of the infamous shark.
The classic 1975 movie’s script supervisor Charlsie Bryant took 110 color photographs, and they have since been in her family.
In one of the candid pictures of director Spielberg in the collection, he is seen on a boat without a shirt while a crew member fights a rubber shark in the water.
