The husband of a married couple killed his wife with an axe on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh after an argument about dowry, according to authorities.
On Sunday morning after getting the information, the police detained the individual.
The bride’s family offered more dowry than they could afford when the pair was married in March of this year, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Vishal Pandey, as reported by NDTV.
But the man’s relatives didn’t stop pestering Kajal, a 22-year-old, for more cash and a motorcycle.
When her husband, Ravi, learned Kajal had told her family about his family’s expectations, the couple’s arguments became more heated.
After a disagreement, Ravi used an axe to cut Kajal’s throat.
The woman’s body was recovered by the police for a postmortem, and an inquiry is currently ongoing into a case against Ravi and his family members.
