The handsome Army soldier who wears a kilt and serves as King Charles’ equerry has been blissfully married to a stunning marketing executive for more than 13 years.
The Queen’s most senior bodyguard, Major Jonathan Thompson, 39, of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, is now serving His Majesty and is frequently shown by his side.
The handsome soldier has gained a following of admirers for his dashing good looks as he has been by the King’s side for the past week. Royal watchers refer to him as a “braw darling,” or “hunk” in Scottish slang.
He served in the position when he was Prince of Wales, but in recent days he has found himself propelled front and centre at major Royal ceremonies as King Charles III’s equerry.
Known to his pals as “Johnny,” Major Thompson married marketing manager Caroline, 44, in 2010. The couple has a four-year-old kid and two black labradors, Odin and Piper, who are named in honour of Major Thompson’s military service in Scotland.
Last Saturday, as Charles signed the proclamation appointing him as the new king in the wake of Queen Elizabeth’s death, he was seen on camera coolly and collectedly removing a pen tray that was cluttering the King’s desk.
Major Thompson was born in Morpeth, Northumberland, as opposed to the majority of people believing he is Scottish, and he currently resides in Surrey with his family.
According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined the Army in 2006 and is a Platoon commander. He is said to have spent the previous two years serving as Charles’ equerry.
Additionally, his profile states that he attended Aberystwyth University, where he earned a degree in Economics and Politics with a focus on International Studies in 2004. He listed rugby and mountaineering as his hobbies and interests, and he was also a member of the undergraduate officer training corps.
