According to accounts, a Russian general who was dismissed by Vladimir Putin a month ago was discovered shot to death.
On Monday, 72-year-old Major General Vladimir Makarov was discovered dead at his house outside of Moscow.
He oversaw the “combating extremism” effort in Russia and allegedly led the witch hunt to remove the President’s adversaries as well as journalists.
According to reports, the general hunted down and put down any opponents of Putin’s dictatorial government.
Additionally, Putin declared war on the hundreds of young people who bravely demonstrated in opposition to the Kremlin.
However, according to reports, his boss Putin fired him last month for an unspecified reason.
Makarov reportedly committed suicide.
After Putin fired Makarov from his position, relatives said that Makarov “did not know what to do.”
He had previously served as the principal deputy director of the Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate for Combating Extremism, which also dealt with terrorism.
According to a source quoted by the VChK-OGPU Telegram group, the general fell into a “deep despair” after being fired.
Before his death, Makarov and his wife Valentina were in their country home in the hamlet of Golikovo outside Moscow.
She reported hearing a gunshot about seven in the morning.
Reports said that a Berkut-2M hunting rifle had been located nearby, however other accounts claimed that a pistol had been found.
After locating her husband, Valentina phoned a family member to the house and dispatched an ambulance.
According to the local media, paramedics were unable to revive the general.
The Russian Investigative Committee is currently questioning Makarov’s relatives, according to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
According to law enforcement officials, it has been “preliminarily determined that he committed suicide,” according to the Russian state news agency TASS.
