In Jamshoro, a final-year university student was murdered by her husband with stones.
Majida Abbasi studied art and design in Jamshoro, although contradicting information about her school has appeared in press stories. Some stories claim that she attended the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology’s (MUET) Centre of Excellence in Art & Design (CEAD), while others claim that she was her husband’s classmate at Sindh University Jamshoro.
The victim’s dismembered body was discovered on September 26, 2022, in a deserted hillside area close to Ghulam Jakhro Village in Jamshoro, according to the information.
The victim’s husband, Zahid Solangi, was then detained by the police as the body was being transported to the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) hospital for an autopsy.
Solangi, a final-year student at Sindh University Jamshoro, admitted to killing his 22-year-old wife, claiming that they had been married in a love marriage two years prior but that she had recently filed for divorce.
Disputes over household expenses are cited as the cause of the divorce in some news stories, while the victim’s inability to complete her education is cited in another.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jamshoro, Javed Baloch, disclosed that Solangi confessed to having crome shortly after being detained on Sunday.
