Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman, was severely battered in the head by the “morality” police of the Islamic Republic and has since fallen into a coma.
In denial of claims that Amini had been mistreated, the Islamic Republic’s police told Iranian media that she had a heart attack while being held by morality police.
Iran International has gathered that when Amini was transferred to the Vozara detention facility, where the morality police take all individuals detained around the capital Tehran, she was not feeling well and exhibited concussion-like symptoms.
The young girl, who is originally from Saqqez in the Kurdistan area, was reportedly visiting relatives with her family in Tehran when she was detained by hijab enforcement police on Tuesday night.
The cops announced that they would transport Mahsa to the Vozara street detentions facility for a “briefing lesson” and release her after an hour despite objections from Mahsa’s brother, who was there when she was arrested.
Her uncle revealed on Thursday that his niece’s kidneys and heart were failing, and that her doctors had informed the family that there was nothing they could do to save her.
Following a series of anti-hijab civil disobedience campaigns, government and security authorities stepped up their attempts to persuade women to wear the hijab in recent months.
The number of “morality police” patrols has increased, and there have been more reports of violent arrests of women and girls as well as clashes between bystanders and those enforcing the hijab.
