On Sunday, five students were killed in a tragic, catastrophic vehicle accident while leaving the state to attend a college.
According to Wyoming Highway Patrol, a Dodge Ram 3500 truck was travelling the wrong way on a Wyoming Interstate and caused a collision.
According to Faith Bible Fellowship Church, they had visited Jackson Hole Bible College and were returning to Arkansas from Jackson Hole.
Around 6.50 p.m., a Dodge Ram struck a car and a pickup truck. According to officials, as this was happening, another commercial vehicle attempted to drive towards the median to avoid being hit, but instead collided with an F-150 that was carrying students.
The F-150 was struck head-on as it attempted to merge onto the westbound roadway from the median, according to the highway patrol.
Both of the vehicles “were engulfed in flames” as a result of the collision between the commercial truck and the F-150.
“The driver of the Dodge, who was driving the wrong way, has been arrested on suspicion of impairment and may receive future charges as the investigation unfolds,” the highway patrol said.
While the other victims were critically injured and sent to the hospital, the students died at the scene.
The kids were named by Sylvan Hills High School as Salomon Correa, Magdalene Franco, Andrea Prime, Susanna Prime, and Ava Luplow.
Andrea Prime, Correa, and Franco were recent graduates, while Susanna Prime and Luplow were still enrolled in the institution.
On Facebook, the student’s high school posted condolences for the loss of young lives.
“As the school community and family mourn the loss of such young lives, our thoughts are with them. The school stated that you would all be sorely missed.
Several classmates spoke to the local news media to express how tragic the tragedy was.
“They all had such bubbly personalities, could get along, always laughing with each other,” Lydia VanderVate, who grew up with the students told NBC Little Rock KARK.
Another classmate, Quint Scruggs, told ABC Little Rock KATV that the girl students were “always joyful.”
“I mean there was never a dull moment, always made you laugh.”
