Three 18-year-old men who were described as friends have been accused of killing a 15-year-old Georgia girl who was found by her mother laying in bed with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.
After making the horrifying discovery at their apartment at The Greens at Braelinn in Peachtree City early on Tuesday, Madison Gesswein’s mother dialled 911 and informed the dispatcher that her daughter was “bleeding from the skull,” according to 11Alive.
The window was open and the blinds were “a mess,” she claimed, when she went into her daughter’s room.
The unnamed mother informed the dispatcher that although she was unable to reach her, “there’s a lot of blood” on the bed and her kid was sound sleeping in his room.
The caller then gave the mother instructions on how to perform CPR on her daughter while keeping track of the heartbeats until emergency personnel arrived over five minutes later.
On Wednesday, police arrested three 18-year-old suspects they described as “acquaintances” of Madison.
Justus Smith, Jacobean Brown and Yeshua Mathis, all of Fayetteville, Georgia, were each charged with murder, Peachtree City police said in a statement.
“A final cause of death is pending determination by the medical examiner, but an injury to Madison’s head appears consistent with a gunshot wound,” police said.
A motive for the shocking crime has not been determined yet.
“This was not a random act,” Assistant Police Chief Matt Myers said, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. “They knew whose apartment they were at, and it was in some way related to matters between these individuals.”
