The parents of a missing kid “obviously” know more about their daughter’s disappearance, a police captain has said in new testimony.
Since the middle of November, Madalina Cojocari, 11, has not been seen at school.
The last time the 11-year-old was seen in public was on November 21, when she boarded a school bus, according to security footage obtained by the FBI.
Her missing person report was not made until December 15 by her parents, Diana Cojocari, 37, and stepfather, Christopher Palmiter, 60.
“This is a serious case of a child who’s parents clearly are not telling us everything they know,” Captain Jennifer Thompson said in a Facebook video.
Thompson continued: “One of the challenges in this case – simply put – we were not notified she was gone. We were delayed three weeks.”
According to police records, both guardians were detained on December 17 and accused of neglecting to notify authorities of a child’s absence.
Police were given a description of Madalina as a brown-haired girl who enjoyed ice cream and horses.
