FOUR DAYS AFTER MARRIAGING THE LOVE OF HER LIFE IN A HOSPITAL, A YOUNG mother tragically died of cancer.
Lyndsey McKeown, 35, lost her life early last week following an 18-month battle with stomach and cervical cancer.
In Dublin, the young hairdresser married partner Daniel in front of their sons Rian, 12, Riley, 10, and Carson, 7.
After receiving the all-clear from cervical cancer in February, the disease progressed to her stomach, and on Monday, August 15, she sadly passed away in her sleep at Harold’s Cross Hospice.
As they paid respect to the mother-of-three, devastated family and friends voiced their sorrow.
Sharon Ogden, a close friend of Lyndsey, told the Irish Mirror that “everyone is heartbroken at her loss.” Since Lyndsey was such a wonderful girl, everyone adored her.
“I used to call her Mother Teresa in a tracksuit because she was just so good to everybody.
“She sang and danced herself through life too, even on her worst days. She lit everybody’s life up and would do anything for you.”
For the bereaved family, Sharon has organised a fundraiser.
Friends and family are working together to locate a new home for the couple’s three boys, two of whom have special needs, and their widowed father Daniel.
It’s the last thing Daniel and the lads should be concerned about right now, said pal Sharon.
When Lyndsey learned she had a stage four stomach tumour more than a year ago, Sharon created a GoFundMe campaign.
The last three weeks of her sickness saw the cancer progress to her bowels.
Lyndsey, the tragic mother who “adored” her boys, went away after six days in hospice care.
Sister Ealish described how the bride became the “princess” she always wanted to be on her wedding day as mourners gathered in remembrance of Lyndsey during her funeral at The Assumption Church in Ballyfermot, Dublin.
Lyn had a challenging few weeks, but she coped, she continued.
