Just a few months after joining the force, a young police officer lost his battle with cancer. PCSO Luke Evans, 27, had just begun his ideal law enforcement career in October and was about to tie the knot when tragedy struck.
Police commissioners have paid tribute to Luke, who served with the South Wales force in the coastal communities of Llantwit Major and Cardiff. Luke will be sorely missed by his staff and everyone who had the pleasure of working with him, according to South Wales Police.
“He passed away aged 27 following a short battle with cancer. Our sincere condolences are with Luke’s fiancée, his parents, the rest of his family and all his friends and colleagues. Rest in peace Luke.”
South Wales Police chief constable Jeremy Vaughan said: “Luke’s death is incredibly sad. My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues who we will support in any way that we can at this extremely difficult time.”
