Lieutenant General Asif Ghafoor, a former director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has been named Corps Commander Quetta.
Lt Gen Ghafoor has been chosen to succeed Lt Gen Sarfraz Alim, who, together with five other members of the Pakistan Army, chose martyrdom on Tuesday after an army helicopter crashed in Balochistan, according to the ISPR.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, the military helicopter vanished as it was flying from Quetta to Karachi. The individuals in the helicopter were in charge of managing the flood relief operations in the southwest of the nation.
This year, Pakistan has been severely affected by monsoon rains that were above average and fatal flooding, which have so far claimed hundreds of lives and caused devastation, especially in Balochistan. e
