As the spicy kissing challenge took place on Thursday night, Love Island viewers were left cringing in front of their televisions (February 2).
“Islanders, it’s time to pucker up and lock lips in today’s challenge, The Kissing Competition #Mouth2Mouth #TheseLipsDontLie,” said the text that informed them of the smooching competition.
It meant that the girls would alternately go down the line and kiss each boy as the boys lined up by the pool wearing eye masks and ear shields.
Despite being unable to see or hear which girl was snogging them due to the equipment, the lucky lads had to assess each girl’s skill to kiss from 1 to 10.
But it seems lots of fans didn’t enjoy watching so much snogging on their screens as they rushed to complain about the game on Twitter during the episode.
One revealed they couldn’t watch the challenge as they wrote: “I can’t watch this challenge [crying emoji].”
Another echoed: “I can’t watch.”
A third admitted: “The kissing challenge is SO cringe.”
A fourth wrote: “These challenges are so cringe.”
A fifth added: “Naaaaah this kissing challenge is so cringe, but I love the drama it’s gonna bring.”
Dramatic moments resulted from the smooching game, as Shaq Muhammad was furious with Tanya Manhenga following the challenge.
Shaq wasn’t pleased that Tanya gave the other guys so many passionate kisses while she was leading the leaderboard and wowing the boys with her lip-locking prowess.
He asked Ron: “Am I overreacting?”, but when Tanya heard he wasn’t pleased, she said: “If there’s one thing that will give me the ick, it’s this. It’s not that deep. That’s so petty.”
She added in the Beach Hut: “I would think that a guy would impressed that his girl won the challenge, and everyone gets a taste of what he gets everyday, every minute in bed, but instead, it’s the other way round.”
It was only one day after the duo said “I love you” to one another, but already there could be trouble in paradise for the couple.
