A student who had been on a liquid-only diet was discovered dead in London.
The 24-year-old Leyla Ciftkurt had been following a liquid vegan detox diet and was the daughter of a Turkish business magnate.
After her mother demanded a check on her after being unable to reach her for two days, she was discovered dead after experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Turkey, where Leyla’s affluent father Tahsin Ciftkurt has amassed millions in the auto industry, was the first country to announce her death.
The death of Leyla was first reported by Turkish writer Bulent Cankurt last week.
“Yesterday at noon, I received very sad news. Leyla Ciftkurt, the 24-year-old daughter of Asli Cetiner, one of the famous names of the high society, with businessman Tahsin Ciftkurt, was found dead in her home in London, where she was studying at university,” they said.
“When her mum Asli did not hear from Leyla for two days, she called her university in London, and was told that she did not go to school, so she asked her friends for help.
