A body discovered during the search for Laurel Aldridge has been formally identified.
The 62-year-old, who was Mackenzie Crook’s sister-in-law, was last seen leaving her home in Walberton, near Arundel, West Sussex, on 14 February.
After an extensive search, police said a body was discovered in the Tortington Lane area of Arundel 11 days later.
Sussex Police has confirmed that formal identification has taken place.
Mr Crook, known for roles in The Office, Pirates Of The Caribbean and Worzel Gummidge, had been helping in the search, which Ms Aldridge’s son Matthew described as a “nightmare”.
Sussex Police confirmed on Thursday that formal identification had taken place.
Her family described her as “a wonderful, creative, fiercely intelligent person who taught us all the meaning of empathy, dependability, and love,” according to an ITV report.
“We as a family are broken by what has happened, but we have each other, we have our friends, and we have the support of the local community, who have so kindly rallied around us during this difficult time.
“We will never forget what you have done for us.”
