A TERRIFYING photo has emerged of a missing Navy sailor on the last day he was seen by family before vanishing as authorities call off the search.
Seamus Gray, a 21-year-old sailor from Jupiter, Florida, was last seen leaving a bar after celebrating St. Patrick’s Day more than a week ago.
Gray texted a photo of himself holding a festive green beer to his mother, Kerry Rodier Gray, on March 17.
Kerry then FaceTimed him from Jupiter to wish him a happy birthday.
Gray left the Ibiza bar in Waukegan, Illinois, around 1.30 a.m. the next day after being asked to leave by severs.
The workers told police that they forced Gray to leave because he appeared to be inebriated.
Gray was supposed to report back to Great Lakes Naval Base, which is only about five miles from the bar, 30 minutes later, but he never showed up.
His mother took to Facebook five days after her last contact with him to share the last photo she had of him, pleading with someone to “be brave and come forward.”
“Where is my son? What did you do to him?” she asked in the post.
Surveillance footage caught Gray walking alone in the direction of Lake Michigan on March 18 at 1.40am, wearing the same shirt he wore during his FaceTime call with his mother.
Three days later, a search for the missing sailor began, but the search for Gray was short-lived.
The search was called off on Friday after Waukegan Police Commander Scott Chastain stated that they had “exhausted every effort” to find Gray.
Despite the fact that the search was only a few days long, they expended a lot of resources.
During the search, 100 US Navy personnel and Coast Guard members combed miles of water, lakefront, and woods but were unable to locate Gray.
Gray, an active-duty fireman recruit assigned to the Surface Warfare Engineering School, had just turned 21 months old.
“I cannot sleep, and will not sleep until I have answers,” his heartbroken mother said on Facebook on Sunday.
Kerry Rodier Gray was contacted by the US Sun for comment.
