The Governor of Pakistan (KP) sent a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) alerting it of the election date, according to Commissioner Peshawar, who acknowledged the news.
It was reported earlier in the day that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) would ask the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for a date for the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to former information minister KP Shaukat Yousafzai, the governor must include the election date when signing the summary of the assembly’s dissolution.
The governor has been in violation of the constitution by keeping the election date a secret for the past two weeks.
It is important to note that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan recommended dissolving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.
The recommendation to dissolve the provincial legislature was given to Governor Haji Ghulam Ali by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
