Due to flooding caused by monsoon rains that broke records, several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced the closure of all educational institutions.
All public and private schools and institutions would be closed for a number of days due to notices from Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, Tank, Chitral, Swat, and Dir.
Details indicate that all educational institutions in Chitral will be closed for 10 days, those in Tank for 3, those in DI Khan and Dir for 2, and those in Swat for ever.
In KP, the devastation caused by this year’s severe monsoon rains and accompanying floods has claimed hundreds of lives and destroyed infrastructure worth billions of rupees.
In a related event, due to the ongoing flooding and projected torrential monsoon rains, the Sindh government has extended the closure of all educational institutions throughout the province.
All public and private schools and institutions in the province will be closed on August 26 and 27 as per the official announcement made by the Education Ministry owing to the emergency monsoon downpour. On August 29, the educational institutions will reopen.
Due to the anticipated heavy rains across Sindh, the provincial Education Ministry earlier this week declared the two-day shutdown of all educational institutions in the province.
According to the prior notification, all educational institutions, both public and private, were closed on August 24 and 25. It was intended for schools and institutions to reopen today. The provincial government has been compelled to extend the closure of educational institutions, though, due to the current circumstances.
