On July 11, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) proclaimed a holiday in honor of the annual Urs of the revered saint Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi. On this day, all KMC-managed offices and locations will be closed so that people can take part in the auspicious event.
Governor of Sindh Kamran Tessori will join the worshipers in honoring Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi to kick off the Urs celebrations. The people of Karachi regard this occasion as being of paramount religious and cultural significance, and they throng to the shrine to invoke blessings and perform acts of piety.
The three-day Urs, which ends on July 13, will feature a number of religious events. Among them are the Naat competition honoring the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Mehfil-e-Sama, a gathering for spiritual poetry and music.
Residents of Karachi look forward to Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s Urs because of their enduring awe of the saint. This public holiday promotes a sense of shared spirituality and devotion within the community by enabling people from all walks of life to unite in remembrance and unity.
