Months after a group of truckers discovered the missing teen in her submerged car, an autopsy report showed that Kiely Rodni‘s death had been determined to be accidental.
The revelations came months after Kiely’s body was found on August 21 – about two weeks after she vanished at a school-end party in Truckee, California.
A statement to media on Thursday read: “The Coroners Division of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has ruled the death of Kiely Mai Rodni as accidental.
“This ruling is based on the pathologist’s finding that her death was the result of drowning and that there was no other information to suggest she was the victim of foul play.
“As always, our office will continue to work with the family by evaluating any additional information related to this investigation.”
They concluded: “We ask that both the media and the public
respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”
After a week-long search and rescue effort by the government and volunteers failed to find the teen, a volunteer search team from Oregon called Adventures with Purpose made the trip after learning of the situation.
The team of experienced divers used sonar equipment to find Kiely’s car in Prosser Reservoir.
Key Adventures with Purpose member Doug Bishop previously talked exclusively to The U.S. Sun about the issue and acknowledged that he isn’t yet persuaded Kiely merely drove into the reservoir alone.
Bishop described the crime scene as “strange” after discovering the 16-year-old in the back of her flooded car with one of the windows broken.
I believe it to be questionable, but we must act because it is now in the hands of some of the top experts in the world.
