Eight children who were playing cricket in the village of Martung in the Shangla district perished as a result of a tragic incident.
Unexpectedly, a massive landslide descended upon them, devouring these souls, sending the neighborhood into shock and despair.
Eyewitnesses gave terrifying accounts, describing how the kids were playing happily when tragedy struck and buried them under a flood of earth.
The number of children still believed to be under the rubble is unknown, according to media reports, adding to the parents’ agony and concern.
Local authorities responded quickly and started making announcements on mosque loudspeakers urging parents to check their homes for any missing children.
In parallel, a joint initiative between locals and law enforcement was started, signaling the start of a rescue operation intended to find any survivors.
The teams faced difficulties due to the difficult terrain and dangerous circumstances, which were made worse by Martung’s remote location and the abject condition of its muddy roads.
A rescue official reported, “We have successfully recovered the bodies of eight children during the rescue operation,” reflecting on the success of their arduous efforts.
The operation involved a total of 22 brave rescuers who, with the help of the neighborhood, showed unwavering resolve in their search for any survivors.
