According to prosecutors, former NFL player Kevin Ware Jr. allegedly burned his girlfriend’s body after she was killed.
According to Click 2 Houston, the graphic facts of Taylor Pomaski’s murder were made public in court filings as Ware was sent to the Harris County jail in Houston to face charges.
After the bones of Pomaski, 29, were discovered in Harris County in December, Ware, 42, was charged. She had apparently been last seen fighting with Ware during a party they were hosting seven months prior to her disappearance.
According to court records submitted on Wednesday, Ware killed her and then torched her body. He is accused of murder and tampering with evidence, specifically the corpse, and if found guilty might spend the rest of his life behind bars.
According to the Montgomery County Police Reporter, Ware was reportedly being detained north of Houston on unrelated drug and gun charges stemming from a 2019 arrest where he was allegedly found in possession of an AK-47 that was loaded as well as sizable quantities of cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine.
The former tight end played for brief periods in Washington and San Francisco in 2003 and 2004 during his NFL career, which was nearly 20 years ago.
