A statement from his loved ones on X read: “With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend.”
Ken endured a terrible ordeal caused by ALS for a period of five and a half years. And in typical Ken form, he overcame them all with dignity and dedication, choosing to live a happy and fulfilled life every single day.
They continued: “He lived by the principals that each day is a gift and we never walk alone.” The actor leaves behind his spouse Susan and their two kids, Kallum and Lilah.
“That’s what it felt like, like I was watching that scene where someone is being told that they have a terminal illness. It was just a complete disbelief, a shock.”Throughout Star Trek: Discovery’s first two seasons, Mitchell portrayed three different Klingon roles. In Season 1, he played Kol; in Season 2, he played Kol-Sha and Tenavik. He later portrayed Aurellio, a character who utilized a hoverchair, a feature that allowed him to use his wheelchair, as his illness grew worse.
