According to authorities and the victim’s family, a “obsessed” ex-boyfriend killed his ex-girlfriend in front of her 8-year-old daughter outside Texas Children’s Hospital before turning the gun on himself in a tragic murder-suicide.
The violence happened on Sunday shortly after 2 p.m. as the couple and the child arrived at the Houston medical centre in a car.
In the car, close to the body of her unidentified partner, police discovered a lady, later identified by her family as 32-year-old Kenia Osorio, who had been shot to death. The woman’s 8-year-old daughter, who was horrified, was unharmed in the rear seat.
According to Osorio’s family, who spoke to station ABC13, the victim’s boyfriend was obsessed with her and enraged that she had reconciled with her husband and desired a reconciliation.
“As far as we know, he pretty much got obsessed because she decided to work things out with her husband and get back together with him,” said Carlos Rivera, who is Osorio’s brother.
According to a preliminary inquiry, the man and Osorio were driving to the hospital together in order to take the woman’s daughter there for treatment, according to Fox 26.
The man allegedly shot Osorio as she attempted to get out of the car when they parked on the West Campus, then turned the gun on himself in the front passenger seat. The woman’s daughter, who was seated in the backseat, was unharmed.
“Everything happened in front of my niece. I’m sure it’s hard for her to deal with that,” Rivera said.
The son and daughter of Osorio are now in the custody of their grieving father.
