A murder-suicide is being investigated in the “heartbreaking” deaths of a mother and her infant boy that occurred in Dublin over the weekend.
In the upstairs bedroom of their Clonee house, Kate Donohoe, who was in her 40s, and seven-month-old Vincent were discovered dead on Saturday afternoon.
A friend of Ms. Donohoe who became concerned when they were unable to contact her in the preceding 24 hours informed Irish authorities.
The two, who were the only people in the house, are thought to have passed several days before their bodies were found.
According to Gardai, no one else is being sought in relation to the deaths.
The Irish Times reports that the focus of the investigation is on what the two ingested prior to the incident. Detectives are still awaiting post-mortem and toxicology results.
According to reports, they were spotted taking many items, including pharmaceuticals, for examination.
The personnel of the Meath Dog Shelter, where Ms. Donohoe helped, expressed their “great sadness” after learning of Kate and her son’s passing.
According to a statement, Kate offered her assistance to any canine in Ireland who required it.
She frequently groomed dogs for us that were in desperate need of homes and assisted us in doing so as well. Her family, friends, and everyone in the community who are affected by her passing are in our thoughts and prayers.
Ruth Coppinger, a former Dublin West TD for Solidarity, expressed her sorrow at the “tragedy” and sympathy to Ms. Donohoe’s family and friends, calling it “simply terrible.”
