According to the Met department, a cold wave is expected to last until January 29 in Sindh, including Karachi, with nighttime lows plummeting another 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.
According to Sardar Sarfraz, chief meteorologist of PMD Karachi, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Karachi was 7 degrees Celsius on Thursday morning.
He said, “The northern winds blowing in the city at a wind speed of 14 km/h.”
The city is likely to see chilly, dry weather over the next days, and another cold wave is anticipated during the first week of February, according to chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz.
The PMD Karachi chief added that a second westerly wave is predicted to hit Balochistan on January 28 and cause rain and snow to fall in some areas of the province.
He recommended people to take safety precautions while the cold wave was occurring.
Balochistan’s northern areas are currently witnessing a severe cold wave after Ziarat’s temperature plummeted to minus 11 last week.
