According to PakWeather, a private meteorological service, Karachi had the coldest morning of the season on Wednesday (today).
According to the tweet, the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon caused the temperature in the metropolitan area to stay between 14 and 16°C despite reaching a record low of 8 to 10°C in the northern and eastern regions.

Due to increased activity in urban areas, a UHI is a human-influenced urban or metropolitan zone that is much warmer than the nearby rural surroundings. When the winds are mild, the temperature differential is more pronounced at night than it is during the day. UHI is readily apparent in the summer and winter.
In related news, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a statement predicting that Karachi, which is known for its hot and muggy weather, will experience exceptionally chilly temperatures on January 7 and 8.
The official for the Met Department said that the cold snap will remain through the first week of the month, with the city’s peak temperature varying between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius.
The westerly winds from Balochistan will make Karachi cooler this weekend, according to PMD Chief Meteorologist Dr. Sardar Safaraz.
