The coldest night of the season was witnessed in Karachi, which is notorious for its hot and muggy weather, as temperatures in the Malir Cantt region fell as low as 5.8°C.
The largest network of automated weather stations in Pakistan, PakWeather, reports that despite temperatures in Malir Cantt falling to 5.8°C last night (Wednesday/Thursday), temperatures in Clifton and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) stayed between 14 and 16°C.
Owais Haider, the founder of PakWeather, explained to ProPakistani why there is such a large temperature difference in the city: “Clifton and DHA are densely populated neighbourhoods in the city centre, which contributes to the spike in temperature there.”
Owais said that Karachi is one of the few places to experience such a broad variety of temperatures in a single night and called this temperature differential “exceptional.”
