According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi, which is renowned for its hot and muggy weather, is about to suffer extreme cold on January 7 and 8.
The first week of this month will see the cold wave persist, according to a representative for the Met Department, who also said that the city’s weekend high will be between 9 and 11 degrees Celsius.
Dr. Sardar Safaraz, Chief Meteorologist of PMD, reportedly told Samaa TV that the westerly winds from Balochistan will make it cooler in Karachi this weekend.
On the other side, a number of areas in the nation, particularly Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad, are experiencing heavy fog/smog, resulting in just a few feet of visibility on highways and motorways.
As a result, the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has given citizens advice to stay off the roads when not required, use fog lights, and dial 130 in case of an emergency. Additionally, a number of flights from Lahore were cancelled due to the heavy smog.
