According to the Met Office, the current cold wave in Karachi and other parts of Sindh will last until January 26.
In the districts of Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin, the minimum temperature may drop to 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, according to the Met Office’s weather forecast.
The lowest temperature recorded today in Karachi was 8.3 degrees Celsius, with northeasterly winds gusting to 10 kph.
According to Pakistan’s Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in the Sindh districts of Sukkur, Ghotki, Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Khairpur, Tharparker, and Umerkot may drop to 2-4 degrees Celsius.
According to the Met Office, temperatures could drop to 3-5 °C in Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar, Matiari, Mirpur Khas, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Tando Allah Yar districts, and to 6-8 °C in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin districts.
During the cold wave, people have been encouraged to take precautions.
After a westerly wave triggered precipitation in Balochistan and northern Pakistan and snowfall on the mountains of the country, the weather across the entire country of Pakistan remained chilly and dry, especially in the plains of Sindh and Punjab.
