The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts additional rainfall for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Gujranwala, Lahore, and other areas of Pakistan, as well as heavy showers and thunderstorms beginning today in Karachi.
The PMD has issued alerts regarding the potential danger of landslides in hilly areas as well as the risk of urban flooding in several cities.
Dark clouds have been looming over Karachi since the early hours of the day, suggesting that heavy rain may be in the forecast for the next two days. Murtaza Wahab, the mayor of Karachi, has declared a rain emergency in the city and reassured the populace that proactive measures have been taken to lessen any inconvenience brought on by the monsoon rains.
Continuous monsoon rains have been falling in Lahore, turning low-lying areas into streams and canals as a result. Urban flooding is a concern, and the Met Department has issued a warning about potential infrastructure damage. Muhammad Aslam, the chief meteorologist, has urged people to avoid pointless outdoor activities for their own safety.
The PMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall in some areas of Pakistan, along with wind and thundershowers in a number of different regions. Rivers are also at a high risk of flooding between July 8 and July 10. Residents are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant.
Unfortunately, there have already been incidents brought on by rain. Over 10 people have died in Lahore from a roof collapse caused by heavy rains. In addition, seven people were hurt when a bus flipped close to the Hazara Interchange. Four people were hurt when the cement nets of a house in the Karbala neighborhood of Attock collapsed during a downpour.
During this time of intense rain and potential flooding, it is essential for residents of the affected areas to stay informed about weather updates, follow safety precautions, and take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property.
