In response to floods at several sites, the National Highways Authority (NHA) on Wednesday closed the Karachi-Larkana Indus Highway, according to ARY News.
The highway is reportedly flooded close to the toll plazas at Mehar, Khairpur Nathan Shah, and Sehwan, according to NHA sources. They said that the area’s water level is about three feet.
The motorway cannot be reopened, according to the Motorway Police, until the water level has drastically dropped. According to them, the province’s flooding and severe rain have also had a significant impact on the Grand Trunk road (GT Road).
According to the highway police, the National Highway is also impacted close to Nowshero, Kandiar, Qazi Ahmed, and Jahanian. Due to water and rain, the distance between Sukkur and Karachi has increased from 6 to 15 hours, they added.
According to the NDMA, the nation’s over 5000 km of roads have been destroyed by disastrous floods and copious rainfall.
