The Fuel Charge Adjustment (FCA) relief package for the month of June in Karachi and its adjacent areas is estimated to have benefited almost 1.8 million customers of K-Electric (KE), Karachi’s main electricity distribution utility.
The relief package for Non-ToU (Non-Time of Use) household consumers with up to 200 units of power usage was initially announced by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif in June, but it was later increased to 300 units.
Consumers who have already paid non-revised bills for August will receive adjusted bills for September while August’s updated invoices are being distributed to consumers.
According to the PM’s statement, the KE spokeswoman explained that the company is consistently taking steps to pass the benefits of the relief package on to its qualified customers.
The spokeswoman for KE noted that extended hours, including weekends, were kept open to better serve customers and added, “However, to further simplify the process for their advantage, we are now delivering the bills to consumers’ doorsteps so they do not have to physically visit our centres. Additionally, KE customers can obtain their bills from the company’s website, KE Live App, and WhatsApp Service.
