The father of a 3-year-old girl who was stabbed to death and whose elder sister, who survived by acting dead, revealed in gruesome detail, will face the death sentence from Florida authorities.
Juan Bravo-Torres, 39, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder and attempted murder after the unbelievable attack on his children on July 21 in Longwood. He was indicted on these allegations on Tuesday.
The father, identified as Eva Bravo-Herrera in court documents acquired by The Post, allegedly attempted suicide by slitting his wrists and slitting his throat after allegedly slaughtering his young daughter. However, he lived and was imprisoned.
The State Attorney’s Office then submitted a notice of intent to seek the death penalty on Tuesday, citing a number of aggravating circumstances in the case, including the victim’s age and the fact that the crime was “especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel.” The notice also claimed that the crime was committed “in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any of moral or legal justification.”
An affidavit released last month described the tragic details of the fatal domestic altercation, including how Bravo-Torres’ wounded and hurt 12-year-old daughter had to walk a mile to her mother’s place of employment at McDonald’s for assistance.
When the police arrived, they saw a lot of blood inside and found Bravo-Torres unconscious and suffering from severe wounds in the toilet.
Police discovered his 3-year-old daughter, Eva, dead from knife wounds in the same bathroom.
The 12-year-old daughter of Bravo-Torres told detectives she was asleep in her brother’s room when her father grabbed her neck during an interview.
The affidavit stated, “The victim said she assumed he was going for her necklace, instead her dad cut her throat.”
The girl claimed that she utilised the opportunity to leave the bedroom when Bravo-Torres went to get another knife. The child claimed to have found her younger sister laying on the floor in the corridor.
The victim claimed that when her father attacked her with a knife, she fought him off and eventually pretended to be dead in the hope that he would stop.
The girl claimed that after she “played dead,” Bravo-Torres brought her and Eva, then 3 years old, into the toilet, turned out the lights, and then started slitting his wrists and throat.
The 12-year-old informed police that before grabbing the knife her father is accused of using to attack her, she waited for him to pass unconscious.
