Joy Chambers-Grundy, an actress, passed away suddenly at the age of 76, according to her relatives.
In a heartbreaking statement, Joy’s distraught family announced her passing: “Joy went away in her sleep early this morning surrounded by loved ones.
“Joy will be remembered as a Logie award-winning actress, a best-selling author, a poet, a philanthropist and an exceptional businesswoman who worked alongside her husband to build one of the largest independent production companies in the world.”
Following the actress’s alleged passing, her admirers have started paying tribute by posting messages on X, formerly known as Twitter.
One said: “Very sad to hear that Joy Chambers… known to us Neighbours lovers as the fabulous Rosemary Daniels, has passed away. She was such an integral part of Neighbours DNA as the daughter of original show matriarch Helen Daniels, but also real-life wife of Reg Grundy.”
Another said it was sad that Joy’s death came just days before Neighbours was set to make it’s big return to screens on Amazon’s Freevee.
They said: “How sad that the day before Neighbours returns, one of the iconic cast has passed away. RIP Joy Chambers aka Rosemary Daniels.”
Rosemary arrived in Ramsay Street on February 20, 1986 – the adoptive daughter of Helen Daniels, and sister of Anne Robinson.
Joy’s character was the first to discover the dead body of Jim Robinson, who was played by Alan Dale, who would go on to appear in a score of major mainstream shows like Ugly Betty and The OC.
Off-screen, Jow was married to Neighbours creator Reg Grundy from 1971 until his passing in 2016.
She received a Logie Award for Best Female Personality twice during her career, in 1969 and 1970.
