A PRISON OFFICER who had an inappropriate relationship with an inmate faces incarceration.
Joanne Hunter became involved with the unnamed lag in December 2020 while working at HMP Forest Bank in Salford.
The 27-year-old pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to commit public office misconduct.
She also admitted to bringing or transporting cannabis into the prison.
Hunter had denied bringing or transporting an unauthorized mobile phone into the prison, and that offense was left on the record.
There was no further discussion of her relationship with the prisoner at Manchester Crown Court.
Hunter’s parents sat in the public gallery as she entered her pleas.
Judge Rachel Smith, who ordered a pre-sentence report, warned her that “immediate custody in cases like this is unavoidable.”
Hunter worked as a prison officer for two years between December 2018 and December 2020, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Hunter was released on conditional bail ahead of her April 25 sentencing.
