Authorities announced on Friday that a missing Maine lady, her ex-boyfriend, and their 2-year-old daughter have all been located safely, weeks after they vanished while on vacation.
The Sanford Police Department reported having phone and video chat conversations with Nicholas Hansen, Jill Sidebotham, and Lydia Hansen. After leaving on June 27 for a three-day camping excursion, the three disappeared.
“The Sanford Police Department can report that each party is unharmed and safe, and no evidence of criminal behavior has been observed,” police said in a Facebook post. “We also had verification that they were safe from local law enforcement who met with them in person.”
Investigators followed up on various leads in the search for the trio after they were spotted on June 29 and July 2 at a Walmart in Mexico, Maine, which is about 100 miles from Sidebotham’s house in Sanford.
Two aircraft searches for the family were conducted around Mexico and Rangele by the Maine Warden Service.
Despite rumours that Hansen may have been violent, authorities have no proof that Sidebotham was in trouble, and they claim she agreed to the trip, according to a July story by Fox News Digital. Hansen had no violent convictions listed in his state criminal history.
The three were seen on June 29 entering a store at the Coos Canyon Campground in pictures released by officials at the time. Both parents may be seen carrying Lydia in several screenshots from security footage.
