A former beauty queen perished at the horses owned by ex-Liverpool and England player Michael Owen.
According to witnesses, Jessica Whalley collapsed and could not be revived by rescuers, leaving Owen and the employees at Manor House Stables in Cheshire distraught. According to MailOnline, she worked as a transit manager at a stable near Malpas. Owen’s daughter, Love Island actress Gemma Owen, also owns the horses.
“The family have been informed and both the family and the team at Manor House request privacy at this time.”
Ms Whalley, known as Jess, was declared dead at the scene on Tuesday morning (March 28) after emergency services responded to a report shortly before 7.30 a.m. Her demise is not being investigated as suspect, and her next of kin has been notified.
The death of the 25-year-old has sparked a flood of tributes. “It is with deep sadness that we have to announce that a much-valued member of our team died at work this morning,” said Manor House Stables in a message.
One friend, Jessica Mair, posted on Facebook: “So sad seeing him [Michael Owen] and all his staff in tears today .. after such a shock to them .. such a young age , no health problems 25 is no age .. life really is too short for we never really know how long we have .. thoughts go out to her family and friends.”
Ms Whalley’s friends Maxine Bowley and Jo Neesam both changed their Facebook profiles to photos of her, and their timelines were quickly inundated with condolence messages.
Ms Whalley, an avid traveler, represented the United Kingdom in the Miss Tourism Universe pageant, which was broadcast on MTV and hosted in Beirut in 2019, making it to the final ten candidates.
