Kansas’ LAWRENCE (WIBW) – Gerald “Jerry” Waugh, a former student-athlete, coach, and official at the University of Kansas, passed away on Saturday at age 95 in his Wichita home, according to his family.
Since Waugh joined the squad in 1947, KU has been associated with him. Waugh, a Wellington, Kansas native, played four seasons for the Jayhawks before going back in 1956 to work as an assistant coach under Dick Harp until 1960. Waugh left KU in 1960 but came back in 1974 to work with Olympic sports as an associate athletic director.
The Coach Jerry Waugh Women’s Golf Endowment was established in May 2022 by Kansas Athletics and Kansas Endowment.
Dolores Anderson, Waugh’s wife, passed away in 2021. The couple has several grandkids in addition to their three children, Carrie, Sarah, and Marc.
