Local media outlets have named the woman whose body was discovered in Haydock.
On Wednesday, August 31, police were called due to worries for a woman’s safety in a home on Piele Road. As a result, a murder investigation was opened. Officers discovered a woman in her 40s had passed away when they arrived at the scene at 9.05am.
A man in his 30s who had injuries was also discovered nearby. He continues to be hospitalised while being questioned by police.
Jaki Forrest from St Helens has been identified locally as the deceased woman. She was remembered as a “funny” and “kind” lady who enjoyed many “laughs” with her pals, according to tributes.
Susan Hunter wrote on the ECHO Facebook page: “, Jaki. Be as brilliant as a diamond.” Tracy Stanley added another line, saying, “RIP Jaki, thinking of her family and loved ones.”
In an online eulogy, Sally Sheil stated: “Death to Jaki Forrest. We were shocked, heartbroken, and crushed to learn that you had been taken from us. I’m thinking of your wonderful family. So many memories and laughs over the years with you. I’ll raise a glass or two to you tonight. Sleep tight.”
Mark Hilton replied: “She was such a character , always had a laugh when Jaks was around, a very very sad day x RIP lovely lady.” While Craig Sheil said: “One of the kindest funniest people RIP.”
“The investigation is in the very early stages and while I understand that incidents of this nature are worrying to people living locally we believe those involved were known to each other and there is no threat to the wider community.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Piele Road between 8.30am and 9am this morning who saw or heard anything suspicious or has any information which could assist the investigation to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
“Bad news every other week R.I.P. Jaki Forrest very sad was only spoke to you yesterday,” Yugo Anyiam wrote. Julie Garner continued “What an awful piece of news! Such sorrow for a life lost so soon.”
A guy from St Helens has been taken into custody, according to Merseyside police, on suspicion of murder. The 43-year-old was arrested and will now be questioned by authorities. Detective Chief Inspector Allison Woods said: “Tackling violence against women and girls remains a priority for Merseyside Police and we are urgently carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to establish what has taken place.
