Accusations that suspect Bryan Kohberger dined at a restaurant where two victims of the University of Idaho killings worked have been refuted.
The proprietor of the Mad Greek restaurant in Moscow, Idaho, Jackie Fischer, reacted angrily to a People magazine article in which an unnamed purported former employee stated Kohberger visited the establishment to get vegan pizza.
Former servers Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen, as well as Kaylee Concalves and Kernodle’s boyfriend Ethan Chapin, were discovered dead in a home away from campus in November.
At his parents’ Pennsylvania home on December 30, Kohberger, a 28-year-old Ph.D. candidate in criminal justice and criminology at Washington State University, was apprehended and charged with four charges of first-degree murder and burglary.
In response to the accusations, Kohberger has maintained his innocence, with his previous Pennsylvania attorney, Jason LaBar, stating that his client was “ready to be cleared.”
In a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page late on Friday night, Fischer said staff had “not been afforded the time to grieve” and that this would be the only response to the People story.
The post read: “This person who wants their five minutes of fame has now caused a whole bunch of extra work for myself and the investigators. I also have not forbidden employees from speaking to reporters.
“We all decided collectively to support the families and not share anything that could potentially harm the investigation or cause families more stress.”
