A female substitute teacher who broke into a student’s house when his parents were away for nefarious sex romps was able to negotiate a plea agreement.
Authorities in Missouri intended to imprison Jacey Stahl, 23, for years, but the now-former Golden City School District substitute teacher, who was accused with having sex with a kid, has pled down to a misdemeanour crime.
According to reports, she pled to a misdemeanour offence of child endangerment in Jasper County Circuit Court.
She received a suspended 90-day jail term as well as two years of unsupervised probation.
The instructor faced a Class E felony charge of sexual contact with a student, punishable by up to four years in prison.
According to prosecutor Theresa Kenney, the plea agreement requires her to give up her Missouri teaching licence as well.
It all started when she was arrested in December 2021 following a combined investigation by sheriffs in Jasper and Barton counties, which were split out since her employment, Golden City Schools, is located in both.
A “probable-cause affidavit” showed that the instructor and student had intercourse in the boy’s Jasper County bedroom while his parents were gone.
Stahl was working as a full-time substitute teacher for the school district at the time.
The student’s age has been removed from court records, which is unusual. The affidavit goes on to allege that following the encounter, they continued to connect via text messages, and she subsequently urged him, via another student, to destroy his phone while offering to purchase him a new one.
However, prior to her arrest, investigators with the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force obtained the phone and recovered communications between the boy and his teacher.
