Ivana Knoll, a former Miss Croatia, has continued to flout Qatar’s attire regulations by wearing a low cut top inside the Al Janoub Stadium.
Despite receiving criticism from locals for her wardrobe choices, the attractive model has drawn attention to herself at the World Cup with her low-cut ensembles as she supports Croatia from the stands. Visitors are advised to cover their shoulders and refrain from donning short skirts in public in order to adhere to the host country’s dress code.
Knoll, however, nevertheless chose to dress in an identical long-sleeved low cut shirt and socks for her team’s play against Japan on Monday in the round of 16.
Along with a belt in the same hues tied around her denim skirt, she also wore a bow in her hair that had the traditional red and white striped pattern of Croatia.
She uploaded two photos of herself in the audience to Instagram and added the caption, “Let’s go.” Before the game, Knoll had been seen taking selfies with Japan supporters.
The model has attended all four of Croatia’s games so far in the tournament, sparking controversy in Qatar with her provocative attire. At one match, a group of nearby supporters were even seen taking pictures of her as she passed.
A Qatari businesswoman said they had taken the photos of themselves simply because they didn’t like the way she looked after an image of them doing so went viral.
“Just for your information, they take a photo not because they like her but because they don’t like the way she is mis-dressed on regards to our culture,” Mohammed Hassan Al-Jefairi was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying. You can verify this with any Qatari in your area, most likely to report it.
She has also gone to sporting events while donning somewhat more “acceptable” but nonetheless boundary-pushing outfits, always in the red and white check pattern of her own nation.
Those fortunate supporters will be hoping their luck extends to the Wales national team tonight, who must defeat England in order to have any chance of moving on to the round of 16.
While England will be aiming to lead the group with a win to face Senegal instead of Holland in the next round, they merely need to avoid a severe loss to advance to the knockout stage.
