A MMA fighter was killed in a motorcycle accident.
Iuri Lapicus, a Moldovan-Italian fighter, died in hospital after being in a coma for three days following the Friday incident.
The 27-year-old was airlifted to a hospital in Milan on Friday, but he died on Monday.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italian kickboxer Giorgio Petrosyan, who trained in the same gym as Lapicus, took to Instagram on Monday afternoon.
He posted photos of Lapicus with the caption: “This is how I want to remember you. RIP.”
Lapicus is said to have trained in the same gym as Petrosyan.
He joined the ONE Championship promotion in 2019 and last fought in August 2022.
He was knocked out in the fight by Swedish fighter Zebaztian Kadestam.
In 2021, Lapicus faced Eddie Alvarez, who had been defeated by Conor McGregor at UFC 205 in 2016.
Alvarez was initially disqualified from the fight against Lapicus for illegal back-of-the-head strikes.
The outcome was later overturned to a no contest.
Lapicus won 14 of his 16 professional MMA matches.
