Islamabad United (IU) and Peshawar Zalmi (PZ) will play each other in the first elimination round of the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 on Thursday, March 16, as the competition quickly approaches its conclusion.
Islamabad United concluded the group stages of the competition in third place overall with 12 points after 10 games, while Peshawar Zalmi came in fourth with 10 points after 12 games. Both teams will now compete against one another for a spot in Eliminator 2 of the competition and try to advance to the summit match.
Both teams played against each other in their previous games, with Peshawar Zalmi defeating Islamabad courtesy of an outstanding performance by their bowling attack. Thanks to a fantastic knock by Mohammad Haris, Zalmi scored 179 runs.
As Islamabad came to bat, Zalmi outscored them by 13 runs thanks to Khurram Shahzad, Sufiyan Muqeem, and James Neesham’s unrelenting ball attack. Both sides will be aiming for a similar performance as they prepare for the tournament’s second-to-last game, the Eliminator.
