According to cops, an influencer hired a team of thugs to beat up her ex-boyfriend as payback for breaking up with him.
Leandro Rezende’s home was allegedly broken into as payback by Isabela Gomes Pereira, a 28-year-old Brazilian from Contagem, who is accused of hiring three guys.
The 36-year-old was allegedly attacked while dozing off and restrained with electrical lines in the incident in June.
The gang members kicked and assaulted him before they choked him to death with a fan’s power connection.
Before things went too far, Gomes allegedly intended to terrorise and hurt her ex.
The woman and two of the suspected gang members are now accused with robbing someone while using deadly force.
Police said a third suspect is still on the run.
Leandro died from mechanical asphyxiation caused by “neck tightness and traumatic cervical injuries,” according to a post mortem.
Gomes is thought to have located the three guys, who are 20 years old, 24 years old, and 31 years old, in nearby Belo Horizonte and persuaded them to break into her ex-home boyfriend’s late at night.
In addition to beating him, Gomes advised them to rob him and divide the proceeds.
Police suspect that Gomes picked up the men the night of the incident and then drove to the victim’s home.
Leandro’s belongings, estimated to be worth up to £15,000, were stolen in large quantities.
The pair reportedly had a violent past, according to the local media.
Gomes said that her spouse had slapped her in the face and grabbed her hair in September of last year.
The two also battled in April of this year after Gomes allegedly found Leandro in a restaurant talking to another woman.
She allegedly scratched Leandro’s car and shattered a glass on his table.
Gomes utilised her social media site to promote cosmetics and provide inspirational quotes. She had 11,000 followers.
The cause of Leonardo’s passing is being looked into.
