Mustafa Avci, a 33-year-old native of Turkey, spent 261 hours trapped under the rubble of a private hospital following the terrible earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. It’s been 11 days. He spent days and nights living in continuous fear of additional ruins collapsing around him and crushing him. Mustafa had been thrown into a situation where there was no food, no drink, and scarcely enough oxygen. He believed his family was dead. His relatives believed he was permanently buried in the rubble. Nonetheless, Mustafa was rescued from the wreckage alive thanks to a miracle escape. Following his rescue, a video of him speaking to his family for the first time is now going viral.
Mustafa is shown in a video uploaded by Turkey’s health minister laying on a stretcher with electrodes affixed to his chest. He is seen wearing a neck brace in addition to being covered in a heated blanket. The man was coated in dust, but he was talking animatedly to his relative.
“Mustafa, who was rescued tonight at the 261st hour from under the rubble in Hatay, first called a relative whose phone number he remembered after the medical intervention. We are very happy to see our brother Mustafa so well,” according to the post caption.

Mustafa reassured the family member on the other end that everything is fine. In the video, he asks if his family is doing okay. Did everyone make it out safely? Give me time to hear their voices “Says Mustafa.
The crying voice on the other end of the line informs the caller that his family is well. All of them have made it through and are awaiting him. Mustafa is seen kissing the hand of the rescuer who is holding the phone out of gratitude. He gives the recipient a heartfelt thank you and wishes them a thousand times happiness from God.
Only hours before the February 6 earthquake, Mustafa’s wife Bilge gave birth to a baby girl. Against all chances, the new parent lived to hold his infant in his arms and be able to glimpse his face. Many tubes were hooked to Mustafa’s body in hospital photos published by the Daily Mail on February 20. For the first moment, he is seen cradling the infant and kissing her forehead.
Together with another guy, 26-year-old Mehmet Ali Sakiroglu, Mustafa was rescued. After the earthquake destroyed the health center they were within, the two got stranded. The number of fatalities related to the earthquake on February 6 has already surpassed 43,000.
