Irie Ewers was ecstatic as she signed her name next to the one of her partner.
This wasn’t just any contract; she and her 32-year-old boyfriend Tom Smith had made an agreement allowing them to engage in extramarital sex.
The pair, who first connected through the dating app Tinder in September 2015, decided to be open about their relationship after Irie, 26, came out as bisexual.
Three years later, the polyamorous couple has connected with another lady, 32-year-old Alex Jones, and is now a trio.
In fact, they decided against getting married without Alex and even called off their engagement.
Irie, an Oklahoman law student, says: “I consider myself fortunate to have two individuals in my life to love and appreciate.
“With Tom and Alex, it’s so natural. I didn’t think it would be possible to love more than one person at a time.”
Irie and Tom, a recruiter, had a hot first date and immediately fell head over heels in love.
In May 2016, they moved in together and declared themselves to be “strictly monogamous,” yet two years later, they made the decision to end their relationship.
Irie says: “Swinging seemed to be the obvious choice when we considered developing our sexuality because Tom always knew I was also attracted to women.
Irie and Tom decided to draught a contract in September 2019 after talking about bringing a third partner into their union.
The arrangement said that Irie would kiss the woman first and that they would only have intercourse after two drinks.
The contract spelled out the basic rules and declared that we would now become polyamorous, according to Irie.
It stated that we were pleased to include a new woman in our relationship. There would be a two drink restriction if we had sex.
