The volume and power buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro, which is anticipated to go on sale later this year as part of the iPhone 15 series of smartphones, might have undergone a few minor changes. The upcoming smartphone will also include a new multi-function mute button that might replace the well-known mute switch, a notable hardware feature present on every iPhone model, according to the information shared by a tipper. Apple’s Lightning port is expected to give way to a USB Type-C port on the upcoming iPhone 15 series.
The tipper recently posted pictures of what appears to be a case for the iPhone 15 Pro. According to the images, the device’s back will have a recognizable shape, support for Apple’s MagSafe charging technology, and a sizable cutout for the camera module. Another photo shows the tipster holding an iPhone 14 Pro case next to an iPhone 15 Pro case to show how the layout of the buttons has changed slightly.
The alleged mute button, which is positioned above the volume buttons on the left side of the iPhone 15 Pro case, is the most noticeable change that can be seen in the side-by-side comparison. The new mute button is shown to be covered like the volume buttons, in contrast to current iPhone covers that have a cutout for the mute switch; it also appears to take up much less space than the mute switch. In comparison to the iPhone 14 Pro, the volume controls and mute switch are shown to be a little lower on the left side of the phone.
A recent video leak from Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial) on Twitter that also depicts a mute button but speculates that the iPhone 15 Pro may have a unified volume rocker appears to be at odds with the leaked images of the iPhone 15 Pro case. The upcoming phone, however, appears to have distinct volume buttons like its predecessor based on the images shared by the tipster.
It is also indicated that the power button on the iPhone 15 Pro case is positioned lower than the one on the case for the iPhone 14 Pro. The power button is found on the right side of the case. While this is going on, it is evident that the cutout for the rumored USB Type-C port is a little bit larger than the one for the Lightning port on the current model. In order to comply with recently passed EU legislation on a standard charger for smartphones, the upcoming iPhone models are also anticipated to include another significant hardware upgrade this year: a switch from Apple’s proprietary Lightning port to a USB Type-C port.
