If you forget your password soon after changing it, iOS 17’s feature that allows you to reset your iPhone’s passcode for up to three days after it has been changed may prevent you from being locked out of your phone. The security feature can be tested on iPhone XR or newer models that have registered to receive testing versions of iOS 17 for developers. It was discovered in the first developer beta of iOS 17. When the update becomes widely accessible later this year, it is anticipated to spread to all eligible devices.
With iOS 17, if you change your passcode but can’t remember the new one, you can reset it using the old one, according to a report. After an unsuccessful password attempt, tap the Forgot Passcode option, then choose Try Passcode Reset. The previous passcode can then be entered to replace it with a more memorable one. The iOS 17 Developer Beta currently has the feature.
The option to attempt a passcode reset will no longer be available after 72 hours if you don’t reset a new, forgotten passcode using the old one. Open the Settings app, select Face ID and Passcode, and then select Expire Previous Passcode Now if you don’t want your previous passcode to be a reset option. The previous passcode won’t be remembered by the system as a result of this.
If you forget a newly set passcode, this feature could help you avoid being locked out of your iPhone. You will see a Security Lockout message after repeatedly entering the wrong passcode, and you must either reset your iPhone by logging in with your Apple ID and password or by connecting it to a computer.
In addition to notable updates to the company’s apps like FaceTime, Messages, and Phone, iOS is anticipated to launch later this year. It will also include a new Journal app. When a device is in horizontal mode and plugged into a charger, users will also be able to see widgets, timers, and other information like events. Apple has not specified a release date for iOS 17, but the company has stated that it will only be compatible with iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and newer models.
